Brief of Recycle Process
Filtration
This process is to take out fluid, food waste, substances and fine particles in the waste cooking oil before being fed into the reaction process .
Mixing of Methanol with Catalyst
A titration process is used to determine the amount of methanol used. The catalyst is typically Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide.
Reaction
The Methanol/catalyst mix is charged into the oil or fat which go through the transesterification reaction process in a totally closed vessel to prevent VOC (volatile organic compound) emission into the atmosphere. The reaction takes place with agitation in a low temperature environment just below the boiling point of methanol. The reaction is an eco-friendly and low energy demand manufacturing process.
Transesterification.
The Transesterification process is adopted for several reasons:
It is a low temperature and low pressure (Atmospheric Pressure) process.
It yields high conversion (around 90%) with good reaction time.
It is a direct conversion to biodiesel with no intermediate compounds.
No exotic materials of construction are needed.
Separation
Once the reaction is complete, two major products exist: glycerin and biodiesel. Each has a substantial amount of the excess methanol that was used in the reaction. The two products are separated and the excess methanol will be further separated from both the products.
Refinery
Biodiesel will be refined by advance technologies to meet with EU EN14214 quality standard. It becomes an alternate green & renewable energy which can substitute the use of petroleum diesel.
